The Simple Word | John 3 Born Again and the Love of God
One night, a Pharisee came to see, A man named Nicodemus, in curiosity. “Rabbi,” he said, “Your works are clear, God is with You; His hand is here.”
Jesus replied, “To see God’s reign, You must be born again to gain.” “Born again?” Nicodemus did ask, “How can one do such an impossible task?
Can a man return to his mother’s womb?” But Jesus explained to remove the gloom: “Born of water and Spirit is how, The kingdom awaits, don’t ask ‘how.’
The Spirit moves like the wind unseen, Transforming hearts where it’s been. You don’t understand the mystery, But trust in faith what’s meant to be.”
Nicodemus marveled, his mind unsure, Jesus spoke further to make it secure: “The Son of Man will be lifted high, Like the serpent of Moses in the desert sky.
Whoever believes will have life anew, For God sent His Son to rescue you. For God so loved the world He gave, His only Son, that we might be saved.
Not to condemn, but to bring the light, So the world might turn from night. But men love darkness, hiding in shame, Afraid the light will expose their name.
Yet those who walk in truth will see, The light reveals what’s meant to be.”
Later, John’s disciples came to complain, “Rabbi, Jesus is baptizing again! The crowds are leaving to follow Him there.” But John replied with a heart of prayer:
“A man receives only what’s given above, I am not the Christ, but I point to His love. The bride belongs to the bridegroom’s care, And I rejoice to hear His voice there.
He must increase; I must decrease, For in Him alone is eternal peace.
The One from heaven speaks words of life, For He is sent by God, no strife. The Father loves the Son, who gives, Eternal life to all who believe and live.
Whoever rejects Him remains in sin, But those who believe have life within.”
Why It Matters Today
John 3 reveals the heart of the gospel: God’s love is so great that He sent His Son to bring eternal life to all who believe. It reminds us of the need to be born again through the Spirit and challenges us to walk in the light of truth, leaving darkness behind.
